Salesforce Launches Blockchain Platform for Verified Data Sharing
Salesforce, an American cloud-based software company has announced the launch of Salesforce Blockchain, a distributed ledger technology platform that enables organizations to seamlessly share and distribute verified data across a trusted network of partners and third parties, according to TechRadar report on May 31, 2019.
Salesforce Launches New low-code Blockchain Platform
Per the report, Salesforce has unveiled its new blockchain platform for enterprises during its fourth annual TrailheaDX developer conference and the new platform is powered by Hyperledger Sawtooth, an open source platform for building, deploying and running distributed ledgers.
The launch of the platform is in a bid to meet the desire of businesses to provide their customers with increased connectivity by enabling them access and share large amounts of data across a trusted network of partners and third parties, while also ensuring that trust is not sacrificed.
Salesforce takes advantage of the transparent and immutable nature blockchain technology to bridge the “trust gap,” making it possible for employees and partners on the network to save, trace and authenticate data.
Combining Blockchain with CRM Workflows
Importantly, Salesforce Blockchain has been coupled with the company’s customer relationship management (CRM) platform, to extend the CRM’s power to reduce the barrier of creating trusted partner networks.
In essence, businesses will be able to use the Salesforce Blockchain to build and maintain decentralized networks, smart contracts, and apps that could deliver better customer experiences.
In the same vein, customers can employ the same process used in creating and sharing CRM data object in Salesforce to create and share a blockchain object without going through the stress of writing the code. Notably, the firm has made it clear that its Salesforce Blockchain is only available to select design partners and may become generally available next year.
BTCManager on April 28, 2018, informed that Salesforce as well as Raiffeisen International Bank, BPC Banking Technologies, Navigator Limited, and VIKTRE had joined the Blockchain Research Institute (BRI).
In September 2018, reports emerged that Salesforce had partnered with Apple to develop powerful iOS and Salesforce-powered workplace apps that could transform the way companies do business.
The launch of the Salesforce Blockchain is coming more than a year after Salesforce CEO, Marc Benioff and co-founder Parker Harris revealed that the company was working on a blockchain-based product.
