Buying a new laptop is a big decision. Sure, you'll likely be safe going with a high-profile device, but prices don't always agree with your wallet. If you have about $600 to spend on new hardware, I've rounded up some of the best laptops you can find in that range.
You can buy Dell's Inspiron 15 5585 with Intel hardware, but you can save money by going with an AMD Ryzen 3 3200U CPU and integrated Radeon Vega 3 graphics. A 128GB SSD and 4GB of RAM is included, and there's no skimping on the 15.6-inch FHD display. A fingerprint reader allows for sign-ins through Windows Hello, and there's a decent mix of ports, including USB-C, to connect your accessories.

The Acer Aspire E 15 delivers dedicated NVIDIA MX150 graphics for a decent performance boost, and it's complimented by an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U CPU, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. The display, which is a full 15.6 inches, has an FHD resolution.

The HP Laptop 15t offers excellent value for money with an Intel Core i7 processor, UHD Graphics 620, 8GB of memory and 128GB of SSD storage. During HP's 4th of July sale, this model is reduced from $1,249.99 to just $479.99!
For less than $600, this 14-inch laptop can be upgraded to a 1080p display, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and AMD Ryzen 5 2500U quad-core processor (CPU), and a 500GB SATA hard-disk drive (HDD). It's all contained within a standard ThinkPad chassis with black soft-touch finish, TrackPoint system, and plenty of ports, including USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, and RJ45 Ethernet.
Those who need plenty of screen real estate can benefit from HP's 17-inch notebook. For about $600 you can grab a 7th Gen Intel Core i7-7500U CPU, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 1TB SATA HDD, as well as a non-touch 17.3-inch 1080p display. Ports include HDMI, RJ45 Ethernet, and three USB-A for plenty of connectivity.
The 15.6-inch ASUS VivoBook has an FHD display, 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U CPU, and 8GB of DDR4 RAM for solid performance, all contained in a body that's just 0.8 inches thick. Despite the size, you get a lot of ports, including USB-C 3.1, USB-A 3.0, two USB-A 2.0, HDMI, and an SD card reader. To boost security, it also has a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello.
If we're making some suggestion
While you'll spend less than or about $600 for all of the above laptops, we can't help but recommend picking up the Surface Go (or at least seriously considering it) before any of the other options. It's not the biggest or most powerful device here, but it does have the finest build quality, battery life that lasts all day and well into the night, and a knockout display that supports inking with the Surface Pen. If you don't mind spending a bit more than $600, you also have the option for built-in LTE connectivity, allowing you to stay connected just about everywhere. It's the perfect device for anyone on the move.
If you'd like something with a larger 15.6-inch display and with considerably more power, including a dedicated GPU, Acer's Aspire 5 is a popular budget option with a NVIDA MX150 GPU, 8th Gen Core i5-8250U CPU, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. The build quality doesn't quite match up to the Surface Go, but it's nevertheless an oustanding option at this price that can better handle gaming or editing tasks.
