The second edition of the Dutch VC Peak Capital’s Fundathon in Amsterdam was a success, and the VC ended up investing in two startups; Dutch startup Route42 and the Belgian Storychief both left the competition with €100k convertible notes.

Out of over 120 applications, five companies were given the opportunity to improve their growth plans and receive €100k funding during the Fundathon. The startups had to improve their plans in terms of growth, talent and internationalisation. They received help with learning and break-out sessions with portfolio companies from Peak Capital, GrowthTribe, and experienced entrepreneurs including Arthur Kosten (Booking), Maurice Pothof and Erik Broekhuis (Netsociety) and Jeroen Verberg (Hippo).

Route42 offers a business intelligence platform for fleet management. With the platform, companies can monitor, analyse and optimise their fleet in order to increase their operating margins.

“It was an educational and intensive day,” said founder Max den Dopper. “The Fundathon was a good way for us to gain insight into hiring the right people and internationalisation. After a day full of new insights, it is really cool to go away with the winnings.”

The other winner of the Fundathon was Ghent-based content marketing company Storychief, which provides software that allows companies improve SEO and to spread, measure and optimise their content across multiple channels. The investment in Storychief is Peak Capital’s first investment abroad.
