There's a lot coming.
What you need to know
- Monster Hunter World: Iceborne recently launched on PC.
- The base game has been out for two years now.
- A 2-Year Anniversary Celebration was just announced for the game and brings with it a lot of items.
- You can purchase Monster Hunter: World and the Iceborne expansion for $40 at Green Man Gaming.
Recently, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne launched on PC. The game not only adds a massive new region, but there are plenty of monsters and other surprises thrown in there. It feels more like a sequel than an expansion.
Capcom just released a roadmap for upcoming free Monster Hunter World: Iceborne post-launch content. The publisher also confirmed that the timing for major Iceborne content updates on PC and console will sync starting in April 2020. If you're on PC, you'll be happy to know that title updates will begin in February. The free content should include new monsters, expanded gameplay features, special events, and more. On March 12, the second PC title update will add the Stygian Zinogre.
From February through March, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players get increased odds of encountering gold crown monsters, decorations, and Great Spiritvein Gems. A future update will also add two new monster variants. New Arch-Tempered and Master Rank versions of existing monsters will be available at the same time for both PC and console players in April, followed by the return of a popular monster in May. You can take a look at the roadmap inforgraphic below.
As we reported earlier, from January 23 to February 13, the "2-Year Anniversary Celebration" event is going on and you can earn new layered armor, outfits, and more.
Monster Hunter: World is also available through Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One and doesn't include the Iceborne expansion. If you're unsure you want to purchase the title, you can always try it out on Xbox One. In my opinion, it's one of the best games of this generation despite the fact that the plot is somewhat convoluted and the voice acting is downright bizarre.

In Windows Central's review, Jordan Palmer wrote, "Monster Hunter World is a complex game, with Iceborne bumping up the challenge considerably, but with perseverance and practice, anyone can overcome this, and wind up addicted."
