The Android Edge (beta) app just got the new icon and it looks great

Edge for Android is getting the new icon design that debuted with the Chromium version of Edge for desktop.

What you need to know

  • The new Edge icon design is now available on Android.
  • Available now for beta testers.
  • Launching officially around January 15.
The Microsoft Edge Beta for Android has been updated today with a new icon that matches the icon introduced with the new version of Chromium Edge for desktop, ahead of its official launch on January 15. The new icon is something mobile users have been asking for since November, and Microsoft promised it would show up on mobile around the same time the new Edge launches on desktop officially.
Edge for Android is already based on Chromium, but Microsoft has been working on an updated design to match the version of Edge on desktop which features a customizable Control Center, and more. The new UI is only a minor refresh for the mobile app, but it's nice to see and brings the browser in line with the competition.
The mobile version of Edge also now includes the ability to sync passwords, favorites, and more to the new version of Edge instead of the old one, however that behavior appears to be off by default for now. I assume this will be the default behavior once the new Edge launches official on desktop in just a couple of weeks.
For now, are you using Microsoft Edge on Android, and are you excited for the new version of Edge on desktop? Let us know in the comments.
