Another day, another update.
What you need to know
- Minecraft is a huge open-world creative sandbox developed by Mojang and Microsoft.
- It continues to get a ton of regular updates, especially to its beta.
- Minecraft is getting a new beta for Xbox, Windows 10, and Android devices.
- The beta update includes a ton of nice changes to improve Minecraft's experience.
It's no secret that Minecraft gets an absurd amount of support from Mojang, and is constantly in the forefront of people's minds when it comes to long-lasting games. However, there's a little bit of a division between Minecraft's Java and Bedrock Editions. Java is the original version of Minecraft available on Windows PC, while Bedrock is the modern platform, available everywhere with forward-thinking features like cross-play and personal servers. The two versions can recieve changes and updates at different times, and because of this there are still a lot of differences between the two.
Recently, Mojang released a new beta for the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft on Xbox One, Windows 10, and Android devices that mostly includes a bunch of quality-of-life improvements to bring it more in line with the Java Edition. This means new textures, particle effects, mechanics for placing blocks and crafting new ones, and more. If you're interested in the full changelog, you can check out Mojang's blog here.
This beta release definitely isn't the most exciting one Mojang has released, but it still holds some importance. Any effort to make the Bedrock and Java Editions of Minecraft closer together are welcome, and this update may very well be laying down the first foundations for the upcoming Nether Update that we're all dying to get our hands on.
Anyone who wishes to get on board the beta, keep in mind that this is only available for Xbox One, Windows 10, and Android devices. For all the information on how to enroll in Minecraft's beta, check out our guide here.
