Isn't The Division 2 a multiplayer game though?
Yes, The Division 2 is considered a multiplayer game because other players inhabit the same game world as you do. However, that does not mean you are required to team up with them in order to complete missions.
According to Game Director Mathias Karlson, "you can play through the entire story campaign into endgame and [then the] endgame [content] alone, but you can also do the same content [in] two, three, or four player co-op."
Does this mean I can play it offline?
Despite being able to tackle most of the game by yourself, you will not be able to play it offline. It is still a shared-world multiplayer experience, and because of this, it requires an internet connection at all times. Likewise, if the game's dedicated servers go down for maintenance or any other reason, you will be unable to play until they are back up.
What content do I need to play with others?
You will not be able to play The Division 2's PvP modes by yourself, and this includes its three Dark Zones. Players will be matchmade with other people in the Dark Zone based on their power level. As for Skirmish and Domination, players will be matchmade onto teams also based on their power level.
Is the game worth it for solo players?
You're still getting a hefty amount of content, including the endgame, that can be completed alone, so for a lot of people, it will be worth it. If sharing the world with other players, however, is a turnoff, or if you're a purist who believes that solo means you can play it offline, then The Division 2 may not be for you.
