There are several ways consumers can support their local merchants during these trying times, and on this morning’s WJR Business Beat, Jeff highlights two standout programs.
This week, Yelp announced a partnership with GoFundMe to provide an easy and fast way for locally owned businesses to receive donations from their beloved customers. Yelp is automatically adding “donate” buttons to the pages of small businesses that are directly impacted by COVID-19, and Yelp and GoFundMe plan to match donations up to $1 million and $1.5 million, respectively.
An additional program StartupNation is proud to support comes from Kabbage, the online lending source. Through Kabbage’s Help Small Business program, any business can sign up to sell gift certificates online. Businesses simply connect their bank account, fill out the gift certificate form and it gets published online. Consumers can then buy these gift certificates ranging from $15 to $500 for use at a later date.
