The gaming version of our top-rated LG ultrawide display is discounted this weekend only.
If you need a new high-end gaming monitor, Cyber Monday is a good time to pounce. A few weeks ago, I reviewed the LG 38WN95C-W and gave it our "best" award. The $1,600 monitor is not cheap, but it also did everything you could possible want in a massive ultrawide display in 2020.
If that monitor is too much for your bank account, LG has many more affordable versions, including the 38GN950-B. It is the same 38-inch curved 3840 x 1600 panel, but it has an even higher 160Hz overlock refresh rate, 1ms blur reduction, and syncs with NVIDIA or AMD.
Typically, the LG 38GN950-B is also $1,600, but you can get it for the next two days at $300 off for $1,299 at Costco. You are getting a LOT of monitor for that price and one that can keep up with intense gaming for hours on end.
LG 38GN950-B
Bottom line: The LG 38GN950-B is a similar model to our highly-recommended LG 38WN95C-W but leans more towards gaming and less on productivity (no speakers, no Thunderbolt 3). While it;s still an expensive gaming display, it's running at $300 off right now at Costco, making it the right time to get one.
It's effectively the same monitor as the 38WN95C-W, but without the productivity-based features. That also means it is a bit cheaper.
The LG 38GN950-B is more gaming-focused, including its all-black and red angular design.
Since LG (like Samsung) makes all the panels for other companies, you can ensure the quality here will be top-notch, including offering wide-color-gamut, HDR, and 98 percent DCI-P3 for color accuracy.
Oh, and being gamer-focused, you get some fancy RGB lighting on the back, which is always fun.
