Second Extinction is headed to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles on April 28, developer and publisher Systemic Reaction has announced. The company unveiled plans to launch its prehistoric shooter at Microsoft's March ID@Xbox showcase event, coupled with a day-one release into the Xbox Game Pass subscription service on the console.
Second Extinction was first launched on PC in late 2020 in early access as a three-player cooperative shooter centered around fighting back hordes of mutated dinosaurs. The wacky sci-fi shooter previously made the rounds at the Xbox Series X gameplay event back in May 2020, returning this year with an Xbox Game Preview release. This program provides an opportunity to play the title ahead of its final release, with additional content and refinements to come over months to come.
The game looks set to join Microsoft's growing Xbox Game Pass library, the Netflix-style subscription service for Xbox titles. Its Xbox Game Pass inclusion coincides with its Xbox release date, although with no talk of Xbox Game Pass PC availability.
Second Extinction launches with Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S Optimizations, previously announced to support 120 frames-per-second (FPS) on Xbox Series X, accompanied by other visual enhancements. The title will also be available on Xbox One devices for those yet to pick up the latest generation of consoles.
