Good morning, Paul!
Today’s Business Beat presented by Digital Resource. Well, funding for entrepreneurs is fundamentally critical, but in most cases so hard to come by, whether the issue is lack of prior track record to demonstrate experience or your business ideas too unproven and therefore too risky for either investors or banks to lend money to this startup.
Well, it could be a myriad of other reasons as well, but in any case, investment is hard to come by. And one of the sources that we like to highlight here on the Beat for you to consider is grant funding. Sometimes it gets overlooked, but it’s highly valuable. And, in fact, in most cases, grant funding is the type of funding that you receive for your business that you don’t have to pay back or provide equity in exchange for.
And we’ve got a grant opportunity we want to highlight today on the Beat. It’s the Military Entrepreneur Challenge presented by the StreetShares Foundation in partnership with the Samuel Adams Brewing and American Dream program. Now the StreetShares Foundation is committed to creating access to capital opportunities for military veterans and military spouses who are entrepreneurs looking to start and grow a business venture.
And the award is designed to boost small business owners who are creating a social impact in their community. Now qualified applicants should submit their application for the Military Entrepreneur Challenge by filming a simple pitch video and filling out the form on the application page. You can access that at streetsharesfoundation.org.
You can learn more there about the grant opportunity, what it takes to qualify, what you can win, what the criteria are to have a shot at winning the grant. In any case, the deadline to apply is October. Ultimately, three winners at three different levels will be selected to receive the grants. And again, Paul, we love this type of funding because once you’ve got it, you don’t have to provide equity and you don’t have to pay it back.
So go after your shot at some grant funding to get your business off the ground today if you’re a veteran of the armed services and have a meritorious business idea, this is your shot to get it funded and off the ground.
