On the 24th of November, we co-hosted the first edition of the FutureTravel Summit, where leaders and innovators of the travel industry got together to discuss what’s coming next for the sector.
Apart from hearing from really insightful keynote speakers and great panel discussions, the online event also hosted an exciting pitch competition. After receiving over 200 applications to compete in the coveted Pitch Competition, we eventually narrowed the list down to give 10 of the world’s most promising early-stage travel startups a platform to pitch their business for 2 minutes in front of an expert jury and our attendees.
The Prize & The Jury
The 2021 FutureTravel Pitch Competition gave space for innovative startups to share their stories, but there was also a glittering prize package up for grabs. The winners would go on to receive a prize package valued at $40,000 in credits, which included $25,000 in AWS credits; $10,000 in Freshworks credits for their product suite; $2,300 in Semrush credits for their annual Guru plan; 1 year EU-Startups Club Membership for Startups & Scale-ups (worth $400), and an exhibition stand at the EU-Startups Summit 2022 with 3 startup tickets (valued $2,300).
We assembled a handpicked travel-focused jury to decide the final result of the Pitch Competition, and we’re sure it wasn’t an easy task. The jury members were: Christoph Schuh (Lakestar), Meryem Aydin (Amadeus Ventures), and Andrey Kostyuk (Alchemy Ventures).
And the winner is… ChartOk!
The pitching at this inaugural event really set the scene for FutureTravel events to come, and it was a great chance for these up-and-coming companies to spread the word about their business. As it was an online event, the pitchers had to make sure their pitch was engaging for the audience watching and listening through their screens and be ready for any rapid-fire questions and comments coming through the live chat.
We are excited to announce today that ChartOk, represented by its CEO Joan Sanz, is the winner of the 2021 FutureTravel Pitch Competition.
Founded in Barcelona in 2018, ChartOk is a teamwork collaboration tool for hotels. The company has a mission to help hotel teams to work smarter, not harder. It digitally connects hotel teams by digitizing and enhancing internal operations. As a result, ChartOk minimizes the time spent completing and tracking daily tasks across one or multiple teams, accelerating collaboration and productivity. With teamwork and task management tools, hotel back-office and front-of-house operations are all in one place, connecting tasks, documents, contacts, handbooks, apps and suppliers.
Joan Sanz and the ChartOk team are currently open to talk with early-stage investors and Business Angels.
Once Again: Congratulations to ChartOK! A big ‘Thank You’ to all the participating startups at this year’s FutureTravel Pitch Competition!
Last but not least, thank you also to our event sponsor AAlchemy Ventures!
AAlchemy Ventures is mostly focused on early-stage startups providing b2b/b2b2c services. They are particularly interested in the industries undergoing digital disruption, where market demand for such services already exists and is moving to digital platforms. AAlchemy Ventures invests both themselves and jointly with members of their Investors’ Club, as well as mentors and accelerates startups in their DMBA program in association with Deloitte Cyprus.
