Biotope has opened its 2nd call to support innovative agrifood biotech startups and founders. The incubator helps biotech innovation take root, by offering labs & science support to derisk the technology alongside business training & mentoring.
The biotope incubator, an initiative led by VIB, is once again on the lookout for innovative agrifood biotech ventures that are positively impacting people’s lives. The aim is to empower teams to strengthen their business skills and biotechnology simultaneously, helping bring fresh innovations into businesses that are ready for seed funding.
VIB is one of the world’s premier biotech research institutes and the driving force behind the vibrant Belgian life sciences ecosystem.
Room to root and space to grow
The programme gives participants access to labs, a network of experts and financial support. It’s a 1-year, tailor-made journey, reflecting that the beauty of biotech and agrifood is in the variety of it. The program only works with a small number of teams to make sure specific needs, challenges and strengths are addressed and highlighted. After a first selection, the 10 best teams are invited to participate in the biotope basecamp, a 2-week hybrid learning experience, after which they pitch to the investment committee to make it to the final selection.
What’s in it for you
Taking place in Flanders, the program is a flagship incubator in Belgium’s flourishing life sciences ecosystem. The team works hand-in-hand with startup teams to develop the tech and business strategies needed to influence the future.
