#Microsoft Support for Microsoft Edge WebView2 on Xbox has been a top ask from our WebView2 and Xbox media app developers, and we're happy to announce that WebView2 is now available on Xbox too! On Xbox, customers like to watch their favorite media content in addition to playing games. Thanks to the support of WebView2 on Xbox, media app developers can migrate from the EdgeHTML WebView, which brings significant improvements such as:
- Support for modern web features: WebView2 enables Xbox app developers to use modern web APIs in their applications.
- Better performance.
- Better remote debugging experience.
Microsoft MakeCode is one of the first Xbox apps to use WebView2 in their production app. Microsoft MakeCode is a free online computing education platform that teaches kids to code and create their own video games. The new
MakeCode Arcade Kiosk app is embedded in a WebView2 control when running on Xbox. Now, kids can create their own games and play them on an Xbox with their friends!
STARZ, a popular streaming app on Xbox, also utilizes the WebView2 control to power their entire user interface and media streaming experience. We're excited to see more apps built on Xbox and see what you can do with a modern embedded browser control on this platform.
