Mattress, bedding and furniture company Avocado Green Brands has built out its leadership team through two new hires and two promotions.
The sustainability-focused company named Matthew Anderson chief operating officer, according to a Tuesday press release. Anderson joined Avocado in 2022 as senior vice president of executive strategy, and has nearly three decades of experience in the mattress industry. Anderson started his career at Sleep Train and went on to become the vice president of development at Mattress Firm, among other positions, according to his LinkedIn profile. Anderson will oversee daily operations at Avocado.
Randy Salvante was promoted to vice president of operations. Salvante joined the company in 2021 as the company’s senior supply chain manager and most recently was the senior director of supply chain, according to LinkedIn. Salvante will lead purchasing, planning, logistics, data management and inventory control.
Additionally, the company named Patrick Wolf its senior vice president of sales and training. Wolf joins the company from his most recent role as vice president of sales for Diamond Mattress. Wolf will lead Avocado’s wholesale division with a focus on developing strategic partnerships.
Matt Jessell was named the company’s vice president of sales for the retail division. Jessell previously held a number of leadership positions at Sleep Train, Mattress Firm and Mattress Discounters, according to his LinkedIn Profile. Jessell will oversee retail and digital sales and enterprise customer service.
Last year, the company entered wholesale for the first time, with products at a number of Living Spaces stores across California. It has since expanded its partnerships, and currently lists Mancini’s Sleepworld, Steinhafels, Raymour & Flanigan, Sandman Sleep, Bailey’s Furniture and Hom Furniture as partners. Avocado also has 15 of its own retail locations.
Avocado Mattress was co-founded in 2015 by Jeff D’Andrea, Dan D’Andrea, Jay Decker and Mark Abrials. In 2018, the company merged with Brentwood Home and Avocado Green Brands was formed.
